FAQ

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about TrailTrophy

General: Is TrailTrophy about hardcore racing or is it more about having fun?

Short and sweet: TrailTrophy is all about having fun! This question leads back to the origins of TrailTrophy – a desire to finally answer the question of who’s the fastest amongst your group of friends. Sure there are a handful of really speedy guys and gals battling it out – but really the majority of those taking part in TrailTrophy are just there to have a good time on the trails with their friends. And then maybe enjoy one (or two) "sports drinks" afterwards…

Registration: can I reserve places on the starting grid?

In principle, as soon as you register for TrailTrophy a starting place is ‘reserved’ for you. In your registration confirmation you are asked to transfer your entry fee. Only once we have received your payment is your starting place confirmed. If you’re still not sure if you can actually take part, you can simply wait to transfer us your entry fee. However, your starting place is only “reserved” for a maximum of 10 days.

Registration: The rider limit has been reached – can I still get a place on the starting grid?

Each TrailTrophy event has its own rider limit – this limit isn’t universal and can be found on the webpage for the specific location under “INFO”. When the rider limit is first reached, it doesn’t necessarily mean that there are no more starting places as some participants may not have paid their entry fee to confirm their place. Sometimes there can also be one or two participants who can’t compete due to illness or injury. Starting places that become available in this way will be given to riders on the waiting list (in order of registration).

Registration: What is the additional accident insurance?

As the terms of participation state, we require participants to have their own insurance that covers rescue and transport costs after an accident as well as any further treatment. We are aware, however, that not all accident insurance policies cover the costs of an accident that happens in competition. It is for this reason that we offer a special sports and competition insurance through our partner Allianz Travel. This additional insurance is OPTIONAL and so it is up to you to decide whether you are sufficiently insured to take part.

Registration: What is cancellation insurance?

As written in the conditions of participation, we assume that the registration is obligatory and cannot be cancelled. To ensure that you do not have to bear the costs in the event of illness, injury, etc., we offer cancellation insurance together with our partner Hanse Merkur.

Competition: Are full-face helmets compulsory?

The obligation to wear a full-face helmet and back protector depends on the venue. In the Harz there is no obligation, while at the 3LänderEnduroRace, in Brand and Bischofsmais there is an obligation to wear a full-face helmet and back protector.

In principle, helmets are mandatory, even on ALL transfer routes without timekeeping. On all sections it is strongly recommended to wear protective clothing or knee/shin and elbow pads as well as a (protector) backpack. On ALL evaluated stages the wearing of knee or shin pads is mandatory, the wearing of elbow pads as well as a back protector (or corresponding backpack) is strongly recommended.

Violations of the regulations will be punished as individual violations with 2 minutes time penalty, with repetition the disqualification takes place.

Ranking: How does the Total Series Ranking work?

Using a predetermined points allocation formula the 50 best male riders and 30 best female riders in each class at each TrailTrophy will be awarded a certain number of points per place. These points are then added up. The rider with the most points will win the total series ranking competition.
Important: to be eligible for a total series ranking, the participant must compete in the Bischofsmais TrailTrophy final.
NEW for 2021: there is NO scratch result!
